Partaking of the Lord's Supper
Our motives behind worshiping God should be to show esteem, reverence, and veneration to our Heavenly Father.
Worship service is not an occasion for entertainment.
Jesus instituted the Lord's supper during the Feast of Unleavened Bread (The Last Supper). Matthew 26:17-30.
The purpose of the Lord's Supper is explained at I Corinthians 11:23-30.
In verses 23-24, we learn that the bread represents the body of Jesus that was hung on the cross.
In verse 25, we learn that the cup, the fruit of the vine, represents the blood of Jesus which was shed on the cross.
In verse 26, Paul makes it clear that when we partake of the Lord's supper, we are to be remembering and showing (proclaiming) the Lord's death until He comes again.
In verse 27, we are to partake in a worthy manner.
In verse 28, we examine ourselves to see if we are discerning
the body of Jesus while He was on the cross.
In verse 29, we understand the meaning of the elements of the Supper.
In verse 30, we are reminded of the consequences of ignoring the
great gift of this wonderful sacrifice.

Partaking of the Lord's Supper is a weekly event observed by Christians worldwide as seen by
Apostolic example at Acts 20:7.
The disciples deliberately waited seven days (verses 5-6)
to be able to "break bread" on the first day of the week (Sunday).  Had they been waiting for a common meal, they
would have been very hungry.  This breaking of bread was the Lord's supper.  Also there was preaching on this first day of the week.
Preaching of the Gospel
Subject matter for preaching is in accordance with instructions received by our Lord at Matthew 28:19-20.
Members in attendance need to make sure that the things preached are according to what Christ taught the disciples.
A good Christian will check these things daily to see if the things taught are in truth.  Acts 17:10-12.
Praying to our Heavenly Father.
Prayer is a part of the Worship Service.  I Corinthians 14:15-16.
Christians also are to pray daily.  I Thessalonians 5:17-18.
Singing Songs of Praises and Admonition
The purpose for singing is to praise God and to teach and
admonish other Christians.  No musical instrument is able to accomplish this purpose.  God's Word is clear on this subject.  Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5:19.   Christians are to teach one another and to speak to one another.  The melody is in the heart.  Worship time is not a time for entertainment.  There are plenty of places that specialize in tingling the ears.
Laying by in store for the work of the local church
Funds are needed for the support of the local work.
God has provided the only method for furnishing these funds.  I Corinthians 16:1-2.
Notice that the amount is not necessarily a tenth (tithe).
Tithing was a requirement under the Old Law.  When Jesus died, he nailed the Old Law to the cross and by His death
the New Testament was brought into force.  Paul stated
how funds are to be provided in the stated passage of
I Corinthians.  Also in the same passage, the funds are to be used for Saints only (that is live Christians).

We can see for what the funds were used by referring to Acts 11:19-30.  Preaching (verse 19), Teaching (verse 26), and providing for needy saints (Christians) (verses 29-30).
